To put it simply, I only work out with a personal trainer because of Jon. I can keep myself in good physical condition on my own, however; his ability to cater to what your body needs for the best work out at that specific time makes him an invaluable necessity.
To be more specific, I have worked out with Jon for over 5 years and each year has brought different physical challenges. When I first started, I was working to lose weight and tone my body. In addition to losing weight, I learned that pushups didn’t have to be the nightmare they had originally been. Jon’s training expanded my own definition of strength when I learned that bars with metal plates on them aren’t just for scary looking muscle men, they are also for women who want the hour glass figure. Trust me, I can lift the same if not more than the average male and I do not look like a body builder.
His training guidance also aided me in my pregnancy by ensuring I didn’t have back pain due to a growing abdomen. Despite being able to breathe easier due to better posture, I was virtually muscle pain free throughout my entire pregnancy thanks to his weight training. Even now as a new mother, the workouts have changed to incorporate weight loss and to keep me strong enough to carry my quickly growing child effectively. There has been many a time where I could have thrown my back out by the weight of a car seat or experienced wrist pain from carrying an infant, but the training I received while pregnant prevented all of the new motherhood maladies. At this point, I have lost 50 lbs. since the birth of my child in 3.5 months. Results will vary for all postpartum women, however; you can be assured in knowing that fat will fall off if you eat right and do some form of weight training/cardio combination.
Every session doesn’t have to involve a hard core workout; it can be as simple as thorough stretching session if that’s what your body needs to be the most functional for you. Whether you have weight loss goals similar to mine or if you just want to be able walk around without being in pain, Jon knows what he’s talking about and will customize accordingly. Under his instruction, I have progressed from weighing 215lb @ 24.5% body fat to weighing 190lb @ 12.7% bodyfat, in the short span of one year's time.

I can remember the day like it was yesterday. A good friend of mine walked through the nurses station stating that her husband opened his own gym and was offering group training. I said yea sure, like a trainer could ever help me. Ok sure Bethany, thanks for letting us know. I moved on with the day and really had put that option way on the back burner. Later that afternoon, I started talking with some coworkers and we decided to give it a chance. In the back of my head I was just going cause I agreed to be part of the group, telling myself that I would fail at loosing weight just like every other diet or exercise routine I tried. I knew that I was at a fork in the road in my life, either weight loss surgery or give working out with a trainer a shot. The first session at the gym I knew something was different. I wasn’t judged for the size I was. Jon knew that he could help me achieve weight loss goals that I honestly never thought was possible. I had to start with very modified exercises in comparison to my team members, but that was what was so amazing with this gym and trainer cause it was personal. He knew what each of us needed in the session to get the best workout and results.
As each session was completed, I felt different. I felt stronger and better about myself. The scale started showing the results as well. As the weight dropped, I became more devoted to working out and focusing on a fit future. As my body changed, I started having less pain in my joints and became more confident. I became the person I always wanted to be. I knew it was gonna be a long journey that I was starting. Sure the weight went on quickly, but to get it off was going to take dedication and lifestyle change. It wasn’t just a diet anymore. Before I knew it, three years had passed and I was down 130 pounds. I know three years sounds long but that is when I realized that this gym is part of my life. It’s a dedication to fitness and a healthy body. I was able to come off of certain medications. As I went for checkups with my doctor, I was able to start having active medical diagnoses fall off my chart to past medical history diagnoses.
As I got stronger and loosing weight, I realized that working out was the best decision I could have ever made for myself. It was different from other gyms. I didn’t have to work out with the trainer in the middle of a corporate gym setting. I was in a private studio setting. If I failed at something; there wasn’t any embarrassment of failing in front of a large crowd or people looking at me saying wow look at her. People say they don’t judge you for your size when you are in a corporate setting cause you are there trying, but people do judge you. They want to watch you fail so they can feel better about their faults. I had very large hurdles to overcome and I needed lots of guidance and reassurance this was what I needed to be doing. Jon Britt is an amazing trainer. He becomes the rock in your corner, your cheerleader or whatever you need to make sure you stay on track and achieve those goals. He takes the time to help you become the fit person you want to be. I know my prayers were answered the day this gym opened. It saved my life and has given me such a new outlook on my future.
